Caspia would actually much rather spend her summer at home with her friends. But this year everything is different: her father has to go to New York on business for the entire summer vacation. And that means eleven weeks in Brooklyn! How is she supposed to pass the time?

But suddenly Caspia discovers a thick bundle of letters with imaginative plant puzzles that two sisters wrote to each other in the 1960s. The blind Rosalinde traveled the world with her father, a famous botanist, and told her sister Minna about her discoveries in the letters.Caspia solves Rosalinde's plant riddles one by one and explores the city in search of cinnamon, dandelion and mint. In the process, she makes the acquaintance of a wide variety of people and doesn't even realize how quickly time flies when you start to put down roots in a place.
