Das Kinn + der Gang_350

With his first full-length album, “Ruinenkampf,” released on the Hamburg-based quality label Bureau B, Das Kinn embarks on a musical rollercoaster ride through the ruins of our time. Using kickbox phonetics and an electronic armada, it guides us through haunting soundscapes somewhere between DAF, the Kosmische Kuriere, and Frankfurt’s Bahnhofsviertel. Beats at full throttle. Bones rattle. The organ drones. Warm synth lines, played by cold hands. A saxophone ponders what comes next. Hymns for demolition. Music for a solemn downfall. For nearly two decades now, sound activist Toben Piel has been transmitting knock signals and beeps from the catacombs surrounding Frankfurt’s banking towers in various configurations. As part of the music-performance duo Les Trucs, as a co-founder of the tape label MMODEMM, and through works for theater and radio.
