How pure is the Rhine? A gruesome discovery on the beautiful Rhine in Kölle is a mystery: The young activist Luise was washed up dead on the shore. Inspector Clara and her colleague Hans take up the murder investigation. They become increasingly entangled in a web of environmental pollution, online threats and encrypted company data. They fish in the murky waters until they finally bring explosive information about a large local chemical company to the surface - and get ever closer to the murderer. Water emotionalizes. For the Cologne soul in particular, it is more than biologically essential for survival: Numerous myths lie dormant at the bottom of the Rhine, while we sit by it and happily "watch ships pass by" or it triggers feelings of home in us in the distance. No other German body of water is sung about so much. Even the title of the piece is taken from a famous Bläck Fööss song. With DAT WASSER VUN KÖLLE ES JOT, Calle Fuhr introduces himself as in-house director and playwright at Schauspiel Köln. Peppered with Rhenish songs, he tells a Cologne thriller that reveals uncomfortable research findings on the water quality of the Rhine: Explosive facts from the investigative media house CORRECTIV are given a stage.
