Processing one's own experiences of racism artistically, making them visible and audible is important as an act of awareness, confrontation and as a way of showing solidarity. But how can quotations of racist terms and stereotypes be dealt with appropriately if (affected) producers want to incorporate them into their works? There is a risk of reproduction, which is why the question must be asked: Is refraining from doing so a better approach? And what role do appropriation strategies play?
Sociologist and author Katharina Warda will explore these questions with the artists and experts Amewu (rapper, actor), Sarah Blaßkiewitz (director), Nadine Kiala (cultural manager, curator and member of the N-Wort Stoppen initiative) and the audience.
We would like to enable an equal number of people with and without experience of racism for the discussion.
