👉Democracy Tuesdays is a series of events that aims to make democracy tangible through casual conversations and interactive elements!

🤓Democracy games and quiz formats round out the evening, inspiring participants and broadening their perspective on different viewpoints and life experiences.

🤩And it’s all done in a welcoming atmosphere, with a dash of humor and plenty of optimism!

In our July session, we’ll discuss various forms of participation and direct democracy. How do citizens’ initiatives work? What is a referendum? What other forms of participation exist? How can you launch an initiative yourself? And, as always: What does all of this have to do with democracy and our daily lives? We look forward to seeing you! 

About the guest:

Achim Wölfl is the regional director of Mehr Demokratie e.V. in North Rhine-Westphalia. On the organization’s website, he writes: “If you place trust in people, they are capable of truly amazing things. They create, they invent, they surpass themselves. This applies in sports, at work, and in our relationships with one another. Yet our political structures hardly reflect this trust. Having a say is discouraged; a single checkmark every few years is supposed to suffice. More opportunities for direct democratic participation can bring this trust back into politics. After all, direct democracy is based on the idea that every individual is capable of making sound political decisions—regardless of age, education, or background—you just have to give him or her the opportunity to do so. That’s why it’s worth supporting Mehr Demokratie.”

Two friends with a shared conviction: Democracy must be tangible. Christian and Chris organize “Democracy Tuesdays” to bring people together and help shape social discourse in a positive way.
