THE ENGLISH GARDEN brings the ambivalent Munich attitude to life to life. The sun and the beautiful glow are reflected equally on the asphalt and the waves of the Isar. Lush arrangements and smart German lyrics, performed with energy and enthusiasm, characterize the sound of DER ENGLISCHE GARTEN - pop music with a punk spirit. British bands such as The Kinks, Madness or Dexy's Midnight Runners send their regards, plus a breeze of West Coast and a touch of Italy - but DER ENGLISCHE GARTEN speaks its own musical language. Best friend and founding member of the English Garden, Bernd Hartwich, passed away far too early in 2020. The band carries on, out of friendship and love for Bernd, Munich and music. Bernd's spirit lives on in the music of Englischer Garten. Now the band is back with a new single, an angry statement on current world events: "Egomanische Despoten". Their third, much-praised album "Bei Tag und Nacht" was last released in 2020 on Tapete Records. In "Egomanische Despoten", DER ENGLISCHE GARTEN combine their usual optimistic, melody-loving, refreshing band sound with a furious tirade against selfish rulers who make the world a plaything of their arbitrariness and thirst for power.
