The Bárbara Moreno Duo invites you on a musical journey through Spanish-Latin American folklore. Experience a moving evening of history, music, images, literature and poetry dedicated entirely to corn, the bread of the indigenous cultures of Latin America.

We will embark on a journey through the history of pre-Columbian maize culture with its myths, traditions and legends. The result is a collage of texts from the Popol Vuh - the sacred book of the Maya - as well as from Andrés Bello, Miguel Angel Asturias, Pablo Neruda, Gabriela Mistral and Ernesto Cardenal, combined with songs and images from Latin American folklore. The evening also sheds light on the current significance of maize as a biofuel and its role in the context of fair trade and the fight against poverty.

The ensemble consists of the singer Bárbara Moreno, a native of the Dominican Republic, and the Peruvian guitarist Giancarlo Alemán. Their program includes a mixture of traditional and modern compositions of different styles with Latin American and Spanish influences. The duo's music, characterized by Moreno's expressive voice and Alemán's virtuoso guitar playing, is full of soulful melodies, rousing rhythms, passion and infectious joie de vivre and has already thrilled audiences in many cities.
