A literary-musical encounter with the work of the composer Karol Szymanowski

Karol Szymanowski - celebrated by his contemporaries as an "ecstatic elegist" - is one of Poland's most fascinating composers alongside Frédéric Chopin. His opera King Roger, his violin concerto and his colorful, mythical soundscapes continue to inspire to this day.

The author and musicologist Danuta Gwizdalanka has written a captivating biography of the musician and opens up new perspectives on the composer: as a family man, as a friend, as the focus of passionate admiration and as an artist on an extraordinary path - from expressionism and oriental influences to the folk sounds of the Tatra Mountains. In the reading of fragments from the book, correspondence from the master, in conversation with the author and the pianist Nina Gurol, we approach the person and the artist. The young pianist, who like the other protagonists of the evening has her roots in Poland, presents his works and the music that inspired him.
