In the organizer's words:
Operetta by Carl Zeller
CHRISTEL, THE POST OFFICE CLERK, AND HER ADAM FROM TYROL WANT TO GET MARRIED, but the two greenhorns lack the necessary funds. While Adam’s efforts are limited to flirting with other women, Christel takes the future into her own hands: determined to secure a good job for her sweetheart, she goes to see the Elector.
A young couple caught between financial worries, secrets, power struggles, intrigues, jealousy, love, and eroticism—and as it turns out, they’re not alone in this! Will it all end well in the end?
Carl Zeller’s operetta, which premiered in 1891, brings *The Marriage of Figaro* and *Der Rosenkavalier* to a rural idyll. Peppered with musical gems like “Schenkt man sich Rosen in Tirol,” the composer has created a lively operetta classic that shows that the nobility and the middle class aren’t all that different—and that men are better off not messing with women!
Before the performance begins, you’re cordially invited tothe theater get-togetherat 3:30 p.m., where you’ll have the opportunity to mingle with like-minded people over coffee and cake. The Senior Citizens’ Advisory Board will be happy to take your registration by phone.
