In the organizer's words:
Comedy
ELWOOD P. DOWD IS A LOVABLE, PEACEFUL GENTLEMANwho enjoys drinking whiskey and sees the good in everyone. Much to the chagrin of his sister Veta and the rest of the family, however, he is constantly accompanied by an invisible-yet-visible friend and drinking companion—the rabbit Harvey. But Harvey is more than just a figment of his imagination: he is a “Puka,” a spirit in animal form. At least
Elwood claims—and in doing so puts the patience of those around him to the test. “My Friend Harvey” enjoyed great success on Broadway long before the famous film adaptation starring James Stewart (1950). Mary Chase’s Pulitzer Prize-winning comedy poses the age-old question of reality and illusion in a highly amusing way: Who here is actually really crazy—and who is sane? A timeless, thought-provoking play that uses subtle humor to cast a surprising light on so-called high society, while remaining astonishingly relevant for today’s audience!
