Der zerstörte Bunzlauer "Meilenstein" | Siegburger Museumsgespräch
In the organizer's words:
The history of the destruction, restoration, and reinstallation of the so-called “Milestone”—which highlights the common bond of the pottery craft between Siegburg and Bunzlau—traces a development that, in many respects, can be seen as symbolic of the issue of displaced persons. In the 1980s, the concerns raised by displaced persons’ associations were increasingly met with indifference, a lack of understanding, or even outright rejection by the general public. Financial support from German cities and municipalities was no longer a given.
In 2001, the Rhein-Sieg district and the Polish district of Boleslawiec (formerly Bunzlau) formalized their 1953 sister-city relationship into an official partnership.
