New month, new neighborhood. The planning is always as exciting as the evening itself. Which neighborhood do we take? Which restaurant, which pubs do we try out? This time we'll discover the gastronomic landscape around St. Pantaleon and a little further afield 😉 A discovery tour with new perspectives in the shadow of Barbarossaplatz.

1st stop Sal's Kitchen

On recommendation we try out "Sal's Kitchen" today. We would never have thought of it ourselves. The "Rotonda Business Club Cologne" has its headquarters in the black building and is lucky enough to be able to enjoy the best of modern cuisine on the first floor every day. We would like to do the same. Of course, we reserved a table in advance and are led to the back of the light room. Main prize: window seat. As usual, we order mixed appetizers to share and once up and down the weekly menu. Chef and star chef Saloum Raphael Doucouré offers a manageable number of creative dishes.

2nd stop metronome

Once across Barbarossaplatz. In Weyerstrasse lies a gem that has no equal: the "Metronom". As the name suggests, everything here revolves around music. More than 2000 records are sorted on the shelf behind the counter. Among them is a simple record player. Owner Mike Menger cherishes this treasure and knows more than just music. He taps us a perfect Sion. We listen to the jazzy sounds and exchange ideas about our musical preferences in keeping with the location. What's next, I wonder?

3rd stop Bar Botanik

Before we find out, we meander through the small streets and arrive at Kaygasse 2, where the 35-meter-high Wasserturm Hotel stands. Even the outside is a real eye-catcher. And only inside. The concierge tells us the way to our desired location, the "Bar Botanik". It is located on the 11th floor of this architectural masterpiece. Once we reach the top, the sound shows us the way. Because on "Little Friday" a DJ always plays in the Roof Top Bar. Everything fits here: furnishings, staff, drinks. And this view! We are speechless, grab a sofa corner and admire the sensational place, until the waitress asks us for our drink wishes. Even though the cocktails look very tempting, we stick with the Kölsch, of course. A short time later, the Sion bars are on the table. The relaxed atmosphere inspires communication and we forget a bit about time. We have found a new favorite bar and tear ourselves away with heavy hearts.

4th stop Iron

We walk across the "Great Greek Market" in the direction of the "Bermuda Triangle" and check in at the "Iron". Behind the bar all spirits of this world are shining and invite us to drink. Our decision is made: A cold Kölsch! Here we have Sion from bottles. We already know them and still find them extremely stylish. We dock at a bar table with a view of Schaafenstraße and let the evening come to an end.
