The “Dichtis’” new album is set to be released in fall 2026 and is already not only a hot topic of conversation but is even causing outrage. While some, after years of waiting, are falling into each other’s arms in exuberant joy, others are clasping their hands over their heads in shock.
What’s going on here?
Following their album trilogy in dialect, Dutti & Urkwell are opening the fabulous Pandora’s box. Whether this move will inevitably lead to the loss of their cult status, or whether it will open up new horizons for them across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, remains to be seen once the album hits the shelves.
From now on, not only Lower or Upper Bavarians, but even East Westphalians or South North Frisians can find a new home in the subversive irony of “Dichtis.”
“dicht & ergreifend” are selling their souls to the mainstream and will inevitably lose all credibility.
That’s roughly how a headline in the arts section might read, but the following interpretation would also be conceivable:
More eloquent than ever:“dicht & ergreifend” transcends linguistic boundaries and,in doing so,gainseven greater power and authenticity.
“Das Zweiländertreieck” is a sly one, especially since it’s the “Dichtis’” first concept album—and once again, we can expect a slap in the face—pardon me—a High German slap on the back of the neck—in terms of content.
Half the songs are in the familiar dialect, the other half in High German. What seems like a loss of identity turns out to be an all-out attack on blind traditions and finally includes even those who, until now, have merely nodded along to the beats in agreement.
In the fall of 2026, the “Dichtis” will take the plunge and embark on a major arena tour in Bavaria and Austria. In the spring of 2027, they’ll follow that up with an intimate club tour—a three-show set—outside their Bavarian comfort zone, traveling through northern Germany. Whether they’ll go for a swim or make waves remains to be seen.
If the “bilingual” concept album takes off, the Dichtiverse may well expand beyond the Free State of Bavaria. If the album flops, they’ll likely be mercilessly kicked out of Bavaria.
For the anti-local-patriotic Berliners by choice, that would be a win-win either way—or rather, a mowed meadow, right!
