BERLIN, 1927: HARRY FROMMERMANN SINGS MAINLY FOR FUN and is a huge fan of the American vocal quartet The Revelers. But then he decides he wants to start his own ensemble!

Robert Biberti responds to his ad; he not only has an extraordinary bass voice but is also an ardent fan of The Revelers. A few days later, Biberti brings along two fellow choir members, who in turn bring a pianist, and slowly an a cappella men’s vocal group takes shape. The young men make music together, rehearse like crazy, struggle to make ends meet, and finally achieve their first successes.

The rest is history—a true story, at that. Gottfried Greiffenhagen and Franz Wittenbrink have turned it into an immortal success story for the stage. Jan-Christof Scheibe adds a dash of boy band flair here and there to hits like “Mein kleiner grüner Kaktus,” “Ein Freund, ein guter Freund,” and “Irgendwo auf der Welt” a dash of boy-band flair here and there, and the famous evergreens of the 1920s sound as if they’d just been composed.
