Drawing on his book *Capitalism: The History of a World Revolution*, historian Sven Beckert presents a global history of capitalism that goes beyond Eurocentric perspectives. Capitalism is portrayed not as a European export, but as the result of centuries of international interconnections. The lecture traces a historical arc from colonialism and slavery through early medieval trade networks to the Industrial Age—with the formation of monopolies, exploitation, and anti-capitalist counter-movements—all the way to contemporary forms of capitalism.
