Die historischen Bühnenklassen in Düsseldorf und am Bauhaus

In 1925, the class for stage art was established at the Düsseldorf Art Academy, which introduced itself to the general public at the German Theater Exhibition in Magdeburg in 1927. The Düsseldorf presentation was discussed in detail in several newspaper reports. In addition to Düsseldorf, two other stage art training centers were present in Magdeburg: the Dresden stage design class and the stage workshop of the Bauhaus Dessau. Under the direction of Oskar Schlemmer, experiments between the body, costume creations and stage design were carried out at the Bauhaus. The discussion will look back at the classes and their similarities and differences. It will also look at the artistic legacy of the classes for the present day.
