17-year-old Fatima lives with her Algerian family in a Parisian suburb. From her last year at secondary school onwards, we see how she slowly discovers her homosexuality, distances herself from her family, searches for her place in the world and, above all, encounters inner conflicts.
"The Youngest Daughter" is based on the autobiographical novel of the same name by Fatima Daas and celebrated its world premiere at the 78th Cannes Film Festival. With her third feature film, Hafsia Herzi has created a coming-of-age drama that never loses its way and touches on several levels. The protagonist and amateur actress Nadia Melliti was honored as best actress in Cannes and the film deservedly won the queer Palme d'Or.
We are delighted to open our 10th Queer Film Festival Munich with this gem and to celebrate the German premiere.
