The acclaimed Austrian baritone Georg Nigl has transferred the concept of his "Musical Salons" from previous years to "Die letzten Tage der Menschlichkeit?": a special combination of song recital and reading, in which the selected music and literature experience an expansion in their interplay - for an evening full of existential intensity! With Burg actor Nicholas Ofczarek and the GMD of the Bavarian State Opera Vladimir Jurowski at the piano, Nigl creates a theater evening in which songs by Gustav Mahler, Hanns Eisler and Pete Seeger are interwoven with texts from Karl Kraus' "The Last Days of Humanity". Written between 1915 and 1922, the Austrian writer's monumental drama is an astute and unsparing reckoning with the horrors of the First World War. With these three expressive artists, the combination of song, text and music becomes a harrowing indictment of war and a sharply focused reflection on humanity in all its tragedy and destructiveness ...
