Tamino wants Pamina; Papageno wants his Papagena. And so they set off. There is fighting and singing, wrestling and loving, revenge and puzzling. But many obstacles stand in their way: an evil snake, a chattering trio of ladies, their own laziness, a star-flaming queen, and a dubious ruler named Sarastro. But there are antidotes to all these dangers, riddles, and uncertainties: a magic flute, a glockenspiel, confidence, a spirit of adventure, a subtle penchant for anarchy, and, of course, the magic of music. Marco Štorman’s new production in Bremen brings fresh sounds to this musical fairy tale and mystery, in which people aged 9 to 99 can discover themselves and the world. A play that shows what theater can do: demystify illusions in order to create new ones at the same time. And above all, it is one thing: great theatrical fun for everyone!
