Japanese film series 2026:

The documentary highlights the challenges faced by single mothers in Japan. Around half of single-parent households live below the poverty line, with one in seven children growing up in poverty. McAVOY combines personal interviews with archive footage and visual narratives. The film has been shown at over 40 film festivals worldwide and received 17 awards.
