“A wanderer between musical worlds.”Neubrandenburger Zeitung
The concert program *A Tribute to Paul Gerhardt* is dedicated to the songs and texts of Paul Gerhardt on the occasion of the 350th anniversary of his death in 2026. The focus is on new arrangements of the best-known songs from church hymnals.
The instrumental album *A Tribute to Paul Gerhardt* (2007) is one of the most successful releases of its kind and was honored with the Impala Award. To mark the 350th anniversary of Paul Gerhardt’s death, Dieter Falk is bringing this repertoire to the stage live.
The program features well-known chorales such as “Befiehl du deine Wege,” “Nun ruhen alle Wälder,” “Geh aus, mein Herz, und suche Freud,” and “Die Güldne Sonne,” all reimagined in jazzy arrangements. Time and again, Falk delves into the lyrical world of Paul Gerhardt, placing his texts at the center of the musical experience.
The concert is designed to be engaging and interactive. Brief introductions and personal reflections accompany the evening. A key feature is the “Falk Request Concert,” during which the audience can actively influence the musical selection. The program is complemented by anecdotes from Falk’s more than 40 years of work as a musician, producer, and composer.
