OmarMusa, multi-award-winning rapper, spoken word poet and author from Australia with Malaysian roots, and internationally renowned US cellist and composer Mariel Roberts bring a captivating music, poetry and theater performance to the stage with The Offering : stories passed down orally are combined with themes such as seafaring, environmental destruction, identity and borderlessness. Their performance combines storytelling, poetry, hip-hop and live music with sound recordings made in the forests on and from the ocean off the island of Borneo. In addition to three books of poetry, Omar Musa has also released several hip-hop records. These include Since Ali Died, an album that paints a very different Australia, characterized by class struggles, inequalities, oppression of migrant, Muslim and indigenous communities and colonial attitudes. In spring 2024, he presented his new album The Fullness on an Australian tour, which moves between sounds, music and poetry and addresses topics such as climate change, Muslim identity and the search for home.
