Mona and her brother Achille don't just share a love of tiger bread. Their autism gives them an extraordinary perception of their surroundings. For 14-year-old Mona, however, the so-called spectrum disorder is more of a superpower. When Mona moves from a special school to a mainstream school, her head begins a rollercoaster ride. Will she find new friends who understand her? How should she introduce herself in the new class? How can she describe the fact that she has superpowers?
Director Sarah Van Dale shows Mona's world in a hybrid documentary. With its observational and staged stylistic devices, the short film offers ample opportunity to analyze the directorial decisions behind the cinematic narrative in an age-appropriate way.
This film is rated 6+, we recommend it for ages 12+.
