In the Personal Memoriams series, each evening is dedicated to a deceased documentary film personality - curated and moderated by a person with close professional or personal ties to them. This evening, the focus is on filmmaker Rosa von Praunheim and his film MY MOTHERS will be shown. Julia von Heinz, a close companion of von Praunheim, will host the evening. Her short film MEINE VÄTER (MY FATHERS) will be shown, which approaches this humanly and artistically formative relationship.

Film description MEINE MÜTTER: After 63 years, I decide to fly to Riga and follow in the footsteps of my two mothers myself. This search is also an exciting piece of contemporary German and Latvian history. MEINE MÜTTER - SPURENSUCHE IN RIGA comes just in time for my 65th birthday and is my 70th film.

Film description MY FATHERS: Julia von Heinz' 80-year-old father dies unexpectedly. The filmmaker only learns from his estate that the former reserve officer was homosexual and led a double life. The director seeks an interview with Rosa von Praunheim, an icon of the gay rights movement. The result is a portrait of an idiosyncratic and lonely man.
