As a child, the journalist and author Don Pablo Mulemba, the son of an Angolan contract worker and an East German woman, constantly had to explain his origins, although he naturally considered himself to be German. Growing up in Berlin-Brandenburg and shaped by the upheavals of the post-reunification period and the "Springerstiefel years", his biography becomes a search for clues. In HUNDEHEIMAT, Mulemba follows the questions of identity and belonging all the way to Angola, creating a haunting panorama of a reunified country in conflict with itself.
