DRESDEN | One-Day Choir | "Don't Stop The Music" - Rihanna
In the organizer's words:
We are delighted to be organizing our first One-Day Choir in Dresden.
WHAT IS A ONE-DAY CHOIR?
A One-Day Choir is an opportunity to be part of a choir for a single day - celebrating singing and the unifying power of harmony. It's an opportunity to build community, make new friends and unite our unique voices into a common sound.
All are welcome. no previous experience. no concert. no perfection.
Just sing together in a room with people in harmony and create something greater!
Whether you have been singing in vocal ensembles for many years or are singing in a group for the first time, you are welcome here. All levels of experience are valuable and will be considered.
OUR SONG THIS TIME
This time it will be rhythmic and full of energy. We're singing "Don't Stop The Music" by Rihanna - a song that makes it hard to sit still.
It stands for that moment when you forget everything around you. When the beat kicks in, your body goes with it and you're simply in the flow. We will let go, feel that lightness with which we danced to the song at the last summer party and let ourselves completely immerse in the music.
That's exactly what we want to create space for. For movement. For groove. For this shared immersion in the moment, without thinking, without judging.
Between laughter, singing and the odd catchy tune, this special magic that making music together can have is created. You come as an individual and go home with the feeling of having been part of something bigger.
The One-Day Choir is led by Anne Großhäuser (she/her) and Felix Herrmann (he/his), who has prepared an easily accessible yet effective arrangement. Without any pressure to perform, but with a lot of joy in singing together, a musical experience is created in a short time that connects and lingers for a long time.
Everyone is welcome - no previous knowledge necessary. Just come, sing along and become part of the sound.

REHEARSE THE SONG
Sheet music and vocal recordings for the individual parts are available as learning material before the event. If you have the time and inclination, take a look and listen to the parts and the original so that we can work musically on the day. It's not at all necessary to know everything by heart (and you definitely don't have to memorize the song!), but the more confident we are with our parts, the more fun we can have together!
LED AND GUIDED BY:
This session will be led by our choir directors Anne Großhäuser (she/her) and Felix Herrmann (he/his) !
Anne Großhäuser (she/her) is a singer and singing teacher. She currently lives in Dresden, where she completed her master's degree in jazz/rock/pop singing and pedagogy at the Hochschule für Musik "Carl Maria von Weber" in July 2025. As part of her studies, she also trained as a choir director. What she particularly appreciates about choir work is the opportunity to combine different characters and timbres to create a harmonious overall sound while focusing on joy and music.
She has been a lecturer for jazz/rock/pop singing at the Dresden University of Church Music since September 2025 and previously worked as a vocal coach in the Dresden area for several years. As a freelance artist, she has been on stage for many years with a wide variety of constellations, projects and bands throughout Germany. For example, as a backing singer for "Mr. Rod - The No.1 Rod Stewart Show", with her Christmas concert series "Merry Little Christmas" or in a duo with pianist Mikołaj Suchanek.
Her main focus is on pop, soul and funk styles with jazz influences. However, she also dips into genres such as rock and musicals. She is very much looking forward to leading various One-Day Choir events this year and thus creating a musical community.
Felix Herrmann (he/his) is a singer, songwriter and vocal coach. He completed his Bachelor of Music in jazz singing and vocal pedagogy at the Hochschule Carl Maria von Weber Dresden in 2022 and has been teaching voice training and stylistics there since 2023.
He has been writing songs and performing as a singer-songwriter and in various bands since the age of 14. He has also been in various choirs since his youth and eventually trained as a choirmaster as part of his studies.
In the years 2016-2022 he was bass-baritone in the a cappella band "Blended", where he gained further experience in polyphonic singing and arranging. With Blended he played concerts all over Germany and released an EP called "Lights". The vocal band also won the international Vokal.Total competition in Graz, Austria, in 2017. After the corona pandemic, he then concentrated more on his solo project "Kranich" and his vocal pedagogical work.
For Felix, polyphonic singing is a special experience of human connection that you never forget!

THE MISSION OF THE ONE-DAY CHOIR COLLECTIVE
The One-Day Choir Collective is a creative community of singing people across Germany. Our mission is to create connecting, playful and accessible spaces for making music together - spaces for expression, growth, freedom and letting go through music. Spaces where we explore the healing potential of collective music and improvisation. Spaces where people can express themselves freely - without judgment or expectation - and where we can meet other people as our authentic selves and make new friends.
Everyone is welcome in this community.
We celebrate people of all ages, backgrounds, genders, sexual orientations, religions, physical abilities, social backgrounds, languages and musical levels. All we ask of you is an open mind, a desire to connect - and a willingness to leave any kind of (self-)judgment at the door.
We believe that making music - together with others - is a fundamental human practice. This project creates space for exactly that - especially at a time when such opportunities have become rare.
The One-Day Choir Collective wants to break down the separation between audience and artists and create experiences where we are all part of the musical process. We want to provide a network and a platform for people to rediscover themselves musically, to connect with each other and to develop their creativity through play and collaboration.
In short:
We are here to sing, play, connect, grow - and have fun!
