"I know you're scared. I am too. But it won't be too wet. Honestly."
Three people, three rooms, three lives. Rebecca, Anna and Sam want to change their situation, to free themselves from the maelstrom of loneliness, fear and despair. They talk to each other about themselves, about their thoughts, worries and difficulties. At the same time, it seems as if they are answering each other, responding to the other person, getting into a discussion with each other. Although they all keep to themselves at first. Scottish author Stef Smith artfully weaves the three inner monologues into a conversation. The three meet by chance, at first cautiously, skeptically and distantly. Later with honesty, affection and empathy. Smith negotiates the complex game of interpersonal relationships between desire and injury, the need for protection and destruction with linguistic power and ruthlessness.
Stef Smith studied Drama and Theatre Arts at Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh. She has been working as an author ever since. She received the Olivier Award for her play "Roadkill". "Thrushes" was commissioned by the Scottish Traverse Theatre.
Jamie Trautmann is making her debut with "Drosseln" at the Deutsches SchauSpielHaus Hamburg.
