In the organizer's words:
On the occasion of her 140th birthday, the Cologne City Museum is commemorating the Cologne artist Olga Oppenheimer, an important pioneer of Expressionism in the Rhineland whose work and influence had long been forgotten, at OPEN SPACE. The First World War, personal strokes of fate and a mental illness ended her career early; in 1941 she became a victim of the National Socialist "euthanasia" crimes. It is only now that her work is receiving greater attention again.
