Ein Abend mit Tukan-Preisträger Pierre Jarawan

The Intercultural Foundation Kolibri invites you to a special charity event with the award-winning author and poetry slam champion Pierre Jarawan. The event will take place on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at 7:30 pm in the Seidlvilla in Munich-Schwabing.

Under the title "Lecture - Reading - Conversation", visitors can expect a literary evening that delves deep into the topics of memory, identity and history. The event will be hosted by Yvonne Esterházy.

The focus will be on Jarawan's works, including his latest novel "Woman in the Moon" (2025) and the widely acclaimed books "A Song for the Missing" (2020) and "In the End, the Cedars Remain" (2016). In his trilogy of novels, Jarawan combines personal family stories with the turbulent history of Lebanon - a country caught between cultural beauty and political turmoil.

His latest work "Woman in the Moon" links two historical events: the explosion in the port of Beirut on August 4, 2020 and the launch of a rocket by the Lebanese Rocket Society in 1966. The result is a multi-layered narrative about origins, loss and hope.

Pierre Jarawan was born in Amman in 1985 and came to Germany as a child. He has been one of the most influential voices on the German-language literary scene for years and was the 2012 International German-language Poetry Slam Champion.
