In the organizer's words:
Due to the poor weather forecast, tonight’s performance (July 16) will be moved to the Kulturtetage hall at Bahnhofstr. 11. The show will begin there at 9 p.m. Tickets already purchased remain valid, but can also be returned at the location where they were purchased. Thank you for your understanding!
Join us for a magical night as you settle in for a picnic amidst the enchanting backdrop of the palace gardens.
But what’s it actually about? Love, of course! A loves B, but B doesn’t love A—she loves C—and C, of course, loves A—and so on, following the motto: “You don’t love me, but I love you.” It was no different in Shakespeare’s time than it is today. Chaos, in other words! To sort it all out—let’s head to the Schlossgarten!
Fortunately, the Duke loves the right one. Which Duke? Well, the Duke of Oldenburg, of course—Peter Ludwig. The very same man who wrested the palace gardens from nature—that is, the Hunte lowlands—just as Oberon and Titania…no, more on that later.
So the Duke wants to get married. Is all of Athens called to the festivities? No—all of Oldenburg is called to the festivities! A celebration! In the palace gardens! A picnic in the countryside! Let the spirit of joy be awakened everywhere! Meanwhile, Oberon and Titania, the rulers of the fairies and elves, are quarreling
. This throws nature into disarray, and that’s why love must intervene. Not between the two of them—no, humanity must reconcile with nature. At least in a dream. In Zettel’s dream, so to speak. So who is this Zettel, anyway? Zettel belongs to an amateur theater group that wants to perform “The Comedy of Pyramus and Thisbe” for the wedding. Where? In the palace gardens, of course! So: Pack a picnic, bring your friends and family, and let yourself be enchanted by the art of theater.
