Musical by Rory Six
Helena is having her last gender reassignment surgery tomorrow. She is excited and thinks again about how it all came about. Helena used to be called Klaus. But while those around her saw her as a boy, Klaus himself sensed early on that this attribution was not correct - for example, when Klaus tried out clothes unobserved or played with roles that were not officially intended for a boy. Klaus' first love at school was David, but he paid no attention to the boy. Klaus eventually married and had two sons with his wife. When the couple are invited to a masquerade costume party, she suggests that Klaus dress up as a woman. From then on, Klaus takes a liking to it and visits clubs once a week that offer space for a self-determined life in a female identity. What initially seems like a game turns out to be a serious examination of his own identity. The first steps are discussed with a psychotherapist and doctors. We experience how the trans woman feels about herself, how society reacts to her from then on, primarily her family and closest circle of friends: the wife, who initially distances herself completely from Helena, the children, who don't know whether they should continue to call Dad Daddy or Mommy. Helena is lonely for long stretches, as such operations are only supposedly normal these days. The reality is different. Helena hopes that the most important people in her life will find a place with her again. But it's a long way until then ...
