Einsteins Piano: Clara Haberkamp
In the organizer's words:
This concert in the “Einstein’s Piano” series takes place in Hall 4 at Einstein—and features a pianist and singer whom *Jazz thing* magazine once called a “master of omission”: Clara Haberkamp. She knows how to use chords, timbres, and melodies in such a way that they linger long after the music ends and spark the imagination of her audience. What makes her unique is how she handles subtleties, plays with nuances, and adds an extra layer to simple harmonies.
Anyone who listens to Clara Haberkamp’s album *Love Maps*, for example, immediately senses how much what is played and what is left unplayed complement each other, and quickly realizes that the intimate atmosphere she creates during her solo recitals can draw you in and doesn’t let you go so easily. Her restraint does not come at the expense of intensity and expressiveness.
Clara Haberkamp, the daughter of a couple of jazz musicians, has always been involved in both classical music and jazz, winning various awards in both fields at an early age. She was a member of various youth orchestras, including the BuJazzO’s training program. As a young adult, she performed with the NDR Big Band, which played her compositions; she founded a trio that went through various lineups, worked with the actor and singer Gustav Peter Wöhler, was one-third of the trio Saskya, and made a significant contribution to David Friedman’s Generations Quartets.
