Einsteins Piano: Michel Reis

Michel Reis, who is featured in our Einstein's Piano solo series, was once counted among the greatest in his field by the German magazine Jazzthing. There are many publications that agree with this judgment, because the Luxembourger is probably one of the most accomplished pianists in European jazz - classically trained, infected with the jazz virus at an early age and equipped with the extensive knowledge that makes his playing so exciting and unpredictable.

Fourteen albums under his own name show the range of the 42-year-old virtuoso. On his recordings, he not only presented himself alone at the piano, but also with various quartets - including a Japanese one, as well as the celebrated Reis-Demuth-Wiltgen trio, which at times was even reinforced by the Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg under Vince Mendoza and which repeatedly collaborated with star saxophonist Joshua Redman.

To come back to Jazz thing: it even compared Michel Reis' qualities as a solo pianist with those of Fred Hersch, Brad Mehldau or Keith Jarrett.

The concert will take place at Einstein Kultur in Hall 4 and starts at 19:30.
