Formed in 1995, the band now consists of six members: Manabu Nakagawa (Ba), Nobukata Kawai (Gu), Tetsuya Fukagawa (Vo, Key) and three new support members: y0shi (Gu), Yoshimitsu Taki (Gu), Hiroki Watanabe (Dr).

The band released their seventh album "The Fallen Crimson" in February 2020 with a new line-up and a live album (performed at Tokyo Liquidroom, Japan) in November 2020. In October 2022, the band released the 10-inch EP "Seimei" and toured the EU (9 countries, 16 concerts). In October 2024, the band released their eighth album "Eunoia".

Envy has continuously played at festivals such as HELLFEST (FR), FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL (JP), All Tomorrow's Party (UK) and with various bands such as Explosions in the Sky, CONVERGE, DEAFHEAVEN, MOGWAI, ISIS.
