Since 2011, Korean-American singer, songwriter and TV host Eric Nam has been conquering both the Asian and the American continent bit by bit - with a mix of Korean pop and contemporary U.S. R'n'B that is as unique as it is suitable for the masses. His first world tour, completed in early 2020, subsequently advanced to become the most successful ever undertaken by a K-pop musician. Following the highly successful establishment of two internationally acclaimed podcast series, as well as the release of his second album entitled "There and Back Again" in January 2022, Eric Nam is following up on his successful Germany concerts last year and will be coming to us once again for four shows between March 5 and 18, 2024. Eric Nam, whose real name is Nam Yoon-do, grew up in Atlanta and has been involved in music since his school days. Wherever there was music, he was there - whether in the school orchestra or in the Atlanta Boy Choir, with which he was able to perform in St. Peter's Basilica in Rome as a child. During his studies, which included stops in Boston and Beijing, he began uploading the songs he composed and produced himself to his YouTube channel. Songs with a special twist, because analogous to his own pop imprint, they oscillated between the melodic richness of K-pop and the more reduced aesthetics of Western pop and R'n'B music with intuitive naturalness right from the start. Initially, the 34-year-old focused on South Korea. As a participant and finalist in the very popular TV casting show Birth of a Great Star, Nam convinced the audience with excellent cover versions and mash-ups every week for more than eight months, thus laying the foundation for his continuously growing popularity since then, which, in addition to sold-out tours and numerous hit singles, also brought him unexpected offers as a TV presenter. Following his participation in Birth of a Great Star, he released his debut album "Cloud 9", which sold almost one million copies and had several successful singles. In South Korea, Eric Nam has since become a pop-biz fixture, as evidenced by top placements for subsequent EPs "Interview" (2016), "Honestly" (2018), "Before We Begin" (2019) and "The Other Side" (2020). The U.S., on the other hand, Nam first cracked with single songs like "Ooh Ooh" and "Can't Help Myself," which climbed into the Top 10 of the U.S. World Charts. With the English-language regular podcast "I Think You're Dope" and his ongoing singles, Eric Nam became the most successfulK-pop musician in the U.S. to date and thus also an ambassador of cultural rapprochement. The podcast reached the top spot in the music podcast charts in more than 25 nations, and it was not without reason that Forbes magazine voted him one of the "30 most important under-30s in Asia" back in 2017, and the Korean edition of GQ even named him "Man of the Year." The time is therefore more than ripe for him to bring his message to Europe as well, in order to create new spaces between Asian and Western pop traditions. And by no means only with his music on the club stages, but soon also on the big Hollywood screen: In the psychological thriller "Transplant" he will take on a leading role in a major motion picture for the first time. -
