PICK OF THE DAY
You cannot miss this event.
In the organizer's words:

What happens when the space itself becomes a work of art?

To celebrate the opening of the exhibition, we cordially invite you and your whole family to the Dortmunder U cinema on Sunday, 21.04.2024 at 11.30 am (admission from 11.00 am).

The exhibition "Headlong into Art. From Environment to Immersion" invites you to experience spaces that encourage you to move, dream, feel and listen. For the whole family! Selected works of art are used to trace the development of environments and immersive art from the 1960s to the present day.

The elaborate reconstruction of Ferdinand Spindel's Foam Room, which was presented at the Museum am Ostwall back in 1969, ties in with the museum's own history - in keeping with its 75th anniversary. Important pioneers such as Marinella Pirelli and Carlos Cruz-Diez sharpen your own perception of space in their works. Christian Jankowski makes the appropriation of spaces tangible in his artistic actions. You can make the artwork by the artist collective Frau Herrmann grow. Joon Moon and Design I/O create imaginary and fantastic digital worlds in which you can playfully become active. Students from Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts and the Digital Coproduction Lab at Dortmunder U are transferring the painting Großer Zoologischer Garten (1913) by August Macke from the Museum Ostwall collection into three-dimensional space.

What else makes the exhibition special? This time, children have helped shape the theme, the title and the program! Together with in-house institutions and external partners, we have prepared many workshops, readings and films that invite you to a colorful and creative time.
