It all begins with the first book. To mark its 75th anniversary, Kiepenheuer & Witsch and lit.COLOGNE are hosting a special literary Sunday matinee. The legendary debut novels of seven outstanding authors who have left their mark on German-language literature will be celebrated: Helene Hegemann(Axolotl Roadkill), Thomas Hettche(Ludwig muß sterben), Christian Kracht (Faserland), Klaus Modick(Moos), Katja Lange-Müller (Kasper Mauser - Die Feigheit vorm Freund), Leif Randt(Leuchtspielhaus), Benjamin von Stuckrad-Barre(Soloalbum). They all stand for new beginnings, new voices, new forms, new ways of looking at the world. Together with critic and author Volker Weidermann, we travel back to those beginnings in which the literary voice articulated itself for the first time and which became the first building blocks of impressive, unique works - works that wrote literary history.
