For the site-specific performance Erwärmte Tonkörper, Soya Arakawa has built an instrument that reacts to water temperature. The performance explores how sensory perception and physical sensation merge. The focus is on temperature as an immediate experience: cold, for example, is not only perceived, but also shapes the bodies of performers and audience alike. The performance venue thus becomes an active element that determines the atmosphere, perception and content of the work.
