In the organizer's words:
Contemplative Tones
Ethan Iverson is a musician, composer, teacher, and music critic—all rolled into one. Having risen to fame with the band The Bad Plus, the pianist has performed alongside Kurt Rosenwinkel, Lee Konitz, Larry Grenadier, and the legendary bassist Ron Carter, among others. In his blog “Do the Math,” Iverson observes both the jazz and classical scenes and talks with stars like Bill Frisell, Wynton Marsalis, and Cécile McLorin Salvant about their music. He incorporates all these experiences into his own music, which he is now presenting in Hamburg together with saxophonist Greg Osby.
