In the organizer's words:

The enthusiasm for dancing in the Baroque era knew no bounds. Whether in Versailles or Vienna - at the courts of Europe, the nobility gyrated to minuets and lively gaillards. The art of moving gracefully was at the heart of court culture.

The musical panorama is complemented by excerpts from 17th and 18th century dance treatises. They bear eloquent witness to the art of moving gracefully and avoiding any faux pas in society. In this way, the audience learns in passing how dancing became a school of manners for the bourgeoisie in dealing with the "women present at the dance".
