In the organizer's words:
A discussion of selected passages from the work. In this course, we will examine the central themes and arguments in Eva Illouz's standard work of the same name. Illouz creates an exciting "sociology of love". We will analyze selected passages that show the connections between the love ideals of Romanticism and today's consumer culture. You will have the opportunity to contribute your thoughts and interpretations as we explore together the social implications of Illouz's analysis and engage in a critical dialog about the role of emotions and relationships in modern consumer society.
