Extrawurst

It's actually just a formality: Heribert (Hape Kerkeling), long-standing chairman of the Lengenheide tennis club, and his ambitious deputy Matthias (Friedrich Mücke) put the purchase of a barbecue for the next club party to a vote. The hip advertising copywriter Torsten (Christoph Maria Herbst), who has emigrated from Berlin to the provinces, comes up with a snappy line to bring the dull meeting to a quick end. His wife Melanie (Anja Knauer) suggests buying a second barbecue for her double partner Erol (Fahri Yardim), the only Muslim member of the club. After all, devout Muslims are not allowed to put their barbecue sausages on a grill with pork. The well-intentioned idea leads, sentence by sentence, to a turbulent exchange of blows in which atheists and believers, Germans and Turks, do-gooders and hardliners clash head-on. It quickly becomes clear to everyone that this is about much more than a barbecue...
