Fabian Dudek Quartett feat. Ingrid Laubrock

Cologne-based saxophonist, composer and NICA artist Fabian Dudek has been exploring the unknown with his quartet since 2017. The release "Isolated Flowers" (2021, Traumton Records) was longlisted for the German Record Critics' Award. Now the four musicians are once again exploring something new: Brooklyn-based German saxophonist Ingrid Laubrock joins the existing formation. The line-up will rehearse together for a week, record an album and play two concerts. One of them at Stadtgarten Cologne.

For the first meeting between the quartet and Laubrock, Dudek has composed a new program that eliminates restrictions, prejudices and expectations and concentrates on the freedom of the moment. The compositionally predetermined structures and rules are there to be broken, reformulated and spun further. Collective togetherness is encouraged. Egoistic virtuosity and profiling are thrown overboard.
