Fabian Müller | Pierre-Laurent Aimard: Brahms | Kurtág | SchubertPierre-Laurent Aimard is considered a specialist for modern and contemporary music. In addition to the virtuoso pieces of György Ligeti, with whom he had a close friendship, he has also intensively studied the pianistic work of Ligeti's Hungarian compatriot György Kurtág.
Kurtág's music is radical, often concentrated on just a few notes. At the same time, it is enormously dense and extremely demanding in its intellectual penetration. This is true, for example, of the countless works in the collection "Játékok", a compendium of small and tiny piano pieces. Kurtág, who is now approaching 100, began this work in the early 1970s and has continued to develop it ever since. Pianist Fabian Müller, born in Bonn in 1990, has chosen his teacher Pierre-Laurent Aimard as his pianistic sparring partner. At the age of 15, Müller had already joined his older colleague as a young student. In the four-hand works by Schubert and Brahms, the two can now be experienced as a recorded double.
