Fables of Jazz

"Fables of Jazz" is a Kassel quartet made up of well-known jazz musicians with many years of experience, each of whose programs is dedicated to the work of a great musician. The names read like a "Who's Who" of American jazz and jazz-related music:
Charles Mingus (modern jazz), Thelonious Monk (bebop), George Gershwin (symphonic and opera), Cole Porter (Broadway musical), Duke Ellington (big band), Antonio Carlos Jobim (bossa nova) and Harold Arlen (film). With a minimal line-up of tenor saxophone, piano, double bass and drums, the quartet strives to make the sometimes stylistically very different pieces resonate.
The Fables of Jazz quartet invites you to an extraordinary jazz concert. Performing (from left to right): Hannes Volkhardt (double bass) Jörg Damm (drums), Klaus Wenderoth (piano) and Helmut Schäfer (tenor saxophone).
