FatJazz meets JazzHall Ensemble – TINY ELECTRIC BAND

In the organizer's words:

This special FatJazz evening will feature three bands. The Jazzhall Ensemble, under the direction of Gabriel Coburger, will kick things off. Original compositions by the jazz students will be premiered. The second band is the Tiny Electric Trio. The trio will present their new CD - featuring Kalle Kalima and Dirk Dhonau. The third ensemble is a new large ensemble format, which will perform compositions by Kalle Kalima in an unusual line-up that evening.

TINY ELECTRIC TRIO Everything flows, everything is moving: a delicate dab of sound on the cymbal and an overturning drone from the guitar, a scream from the saxophone and the sudden beauty of remnants of a melody. Suddenly an energetic groove rises from the stream of sound, which saxophonist Gabriel Coburger, Dirk Achim Dhonau on drums and guitarist Kalle Kalima let flow over ripping cascades of sound into mysteriously supercooled soundscapes. Nothing seems impossible. In their interplay, the three musicians bundle the currents of their musical imagination into musical conundrums with strong contrasts, in which the interplay of light and dark, fine and coarse, loud and quiet, hot and cool, playful and austere triggers a fascinating iridescence. From jazz come refinement and improvisation, from rock dynamics, kinetic energy and motion. In the open-pored precision of their interaction, Coburger, Dhonau and Kalima transform their music into pure sound of surprise.
