We are very pleased to have the opportunity to show the documentary "SPIELEN ODER NICHT SPIELEN" by Kim Münster and Sebastian Bergfeld at our theater. 🎭

The screening will be followed by a short discussion with director Sebastian Bergfeld and Tim Alberti. The evening is intended to provide space for exchange, new perspectives and the question of how art and culture can break down barriers. We will talk about approaches and cooperation between people with and without disabilities in the theater.

The documentary "PLAYING OR NOT PLAYING" tells the story of Lucy and Yulia, two actresses with disabilities, and their challenge to be equal parts of the theater and society. The 80-minute film was shot at the Münchner Kammerspiele and Wuppertal and documents the highs and lows, obstacles and successes that Lucy and Yulia face at the beginning of their careers. Lucy, the first actress with a disability in Germany to get a permanent position, has to get used to the intense daily routine of theater life. At the same time, the theater undertakes to adapt to the needs of the new ensemble member. Yulia, on the other hand, fights for her place in the drama training program for people with disabilities at Schauspiel Wuppertal. The film accompanies her until the end of her training.

"SPIELEN ODER NICHT SPIELEN" is a touching film that addresses the unspoken negotiation of equal rights for actors with and without disabilities.
