Between adaptation and resistance: In this impressive debut film, which captivates with its audiovisual intensity, two brothers get caught up in the maelstrom of the 2016 coup attempt in Turkey. Sinan, an up-and-coming young officer in the Turkish army, is ordered to transfer his older brother Kenan, also an officer, to a military prison in eastern Turkey. At first Sinan refuses because of the family connection, but in order not to jeopardize his loyalty to the Turkish state, he accepts the assignment and takes command of the transport. The climate of mistrust that is spreading throughout the country threatens to engulf the two brothers' small transport.
TÜRKER SÜER (*1976 in Cologne) is a screenwriter and director. His short films Brüder (2011/2012) and Dem Besten aller Väter (2009) screened at numerous festivals. Edge of Night is his debut film.
