filter Festival x Fenster zum Hof-Open Air 2026

In the organizer's words:

filter and Musikmaschine present: KIM CHURCHILL, THE FRANKLIN ELECTRIC and LUKE NOA at filter Festival 2026!

KIM CHURCHILL: Kim Churchill has just released a four-part EP series that was created in four different parts of the world after encounters with other local musicians. His songs are inspired by people and the environment - from the dense rainforests of British Columbia to the rough streets of Berlin. "You're My Window To The Sky" has reached over 19 million Spotify streams, and the upbeat yet nostalgic indie-folk is a trademark of the artist.

THE FRANKLIN ELECTRIC: Montreal-based band The Franklin Electric, fronted by Jon Matte, has evolved from a personal project into a staple of the indie folk scene with a loyal international following. After two intense years of touring, including four European tours this year and the release of their latest album "Victory Songs", The Franklin Electric is currently experiencing a powerful second wave and winning back the hearts of audiences worldwide. The band returned to their hometown of Montreal for shows at venues including MTelus and Impérial Bell in Québec, and are looking forward to their headlining tour of Europe and the UK in 2026.

LUKE NOA: Berlin-based singer-songwriter Luke Noa has quickly established himself as one of the most captivating new voices in European indie folk. With a natural talent for storytelling and a voice that combines warmth, depth and honesty, Luke creates music that is both timeless and deeply personal. In 2025, he has returned with "Ten Years Later", a five track EP that takes him back to his folk-influenced roots. Pared down and acoustic, the EP focuses on themes of intimacy and nostalgia, offering a raw and vulnerable contrast to the layered sounds of his debut album.

The FILTER FESTIVAL as part of FzH26 is a cooperation between the Mainz-based concert agency Musikmaschine and the Berlin-based Filter Music Group. Together, the partners present an extravagant indie-folk program consisting of the three international acts mentioned above. The Filter Music Group is an independent music company based in Berlin. It unites various departments such as labels, booking, local promotion, music publishing, label services and its own sync agency under one roof. For the Mainz-based concert agency Musikmaschine, the newly acquired partner is a further step towards becoming a central point of contact for selected independent live music in the Rhineland-Palatinate state capital of Mainz.

The "Fenster Zum Hof"-Open Air - Mainz is a concert format in the inner courtyard of the Landesmuseum Mainz, where the independent concert agency Musikmaschine presents mainly German bands and live acts from the fields of indie, pop, rock, electro, folk, hip-hop and singer-songwriters who are beyond newcomer status. These headliners are combined with the best up-and-coming artists from Rhineland-Palatinate. As a platform for young, sophisticated live music, which is all about innovative musical entertainment at a high level, the FzH shows anew every year: music history is not repeated here, but something new is created. The booked artists do not turn a blind eye, but spread hope and optimism, especially in view of the unfortunately very difficult realities at the moment. And when the music machine transforms the inner courtyard into a festival area, the following always applies: dancing is always possible! Mine, Kapelle Petra, Die Sterne, Peter Licht, Die höchste Eisenbahn, Wallis Bird, Jeremias, Mayberg, Enno Bunger, The Gardener & The Tree, Blackout Problems, Chefket, Dota, Kytes and Jupiter Jones have played at the FzH and the concert agency's aim remains to offer innovative and independent live music every summer in the most beautiful venue in the media and university city of Mainz. The FzH format started under the impression of the first lockdown in 2020 as a streaming show in the cultural location "Altes Postlager" in Mainz. It was then continued as a spontaneously improvised open air in the courtyard of the Landesmuseum and has since established itself as an annual concert series. This year's edition offers twelve dates between July 24 and August 23, 2026.
