In the organizer's words:
Closing of the exhibition ANDRZEJ WAJDA: EXHIBITION
The special exhibition marking the 100th anniversary of the birth of Andrzej Wajda (1926–2016), one of Poland’s most important filmmakers and a co-founder of the “Polish Film School,” is coming to a close. Films such as *Ashes and Diamonds* (1958) and *Man of Iron* (1981) brought Andrzej Wajda international acclaim. He received numerous awards for his work, including an Honorary Oscar in 2000.
The year 2026 has been declared the “Andrzej Wajda Year” in Poland. The exhibition at the Düsseldorf Film Museum, in cooperation with the Manggha Museum of Japanese Art and Technology in Kraków and the Polish Institute in Düsseldorf, examines Wajda’s work within a cultural-historical context and highlights its connections to other art forms.
